Danish fund manager Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) is raising AUD 814m (EUR 472m) to build one of the world’s largest commercial hydrogen plants in Australia.
The capital has been secured through the Australian Hydrogen Headstart investment program administered by the nation’s government, writes CIP in a press release.
The project is called Muchison Green Hydrogen and will produce around 1.8 million tons of green ammonia annually when completed. After that, the plan is to export to the Asian market.
“CIP is honoured to receive this funding, which reinforces our shared vision with the Australian Government to establish a leading green hydrogen industry in Australia,” writes Karsten Uhd Plauborg, Partner at CIP.
“We see significant potential in green hydrogen and projects such as Murchison Green Hydrogen are key for countries and industries to take the next step within decarbonisation and achieving energy independence.”
“CIP is honored to receive this funding, which reinforces our shared vision with the Australian Government to establish a leading green hydrogen industry in Australia,” said Karsten Uhd Plauborg, Partner at CIP in the announcement and continued:
CIP is already present in Australia with an offshore wind project, among other developments.
