Victrix Pro BFG is a pro controller for PS5, PS4 and PC. I don’t get too philosophical about gamepads, but while testing it I couldn’t stop hearing the old Bruce Lee maxim in my head: “Like water, my Friends”. No matter which game you chose to launch, the BFG had a trick up its sleeve. With alternate directional pad options, taller analog sticks, and a ‘fightpad’ attachment with six face buttons, there was no game where throwing this controller didn’t give it an edge. It may not have the sophisticated bespoke features of his other best PS5 controllers, but it’s a comfortable, stripped-down, performance-focused gamepad.
At just $179.99 / £179.99, it’s noticeably cheaper than many other PS5 controllers with four rear buttons (especially the DualSense Edge, which only has two), but offers the best performance and some of the deepest customization options. Offers. Find a non-Thrustmaster controller. As such, it is one of the best controllers on the market.
design and function
It’s hard to talk about the design of this controller in a steady state. Because it’s like a blank canvas. It’s something you can change to your liking when working with a perfect speedrun, a new high score, or a clip-worthy team. kill. Like some of the best PC controllers, the Victrix Pro BFG is completely modular. This means you can swap out the facial components with any of the attachments in the case to suit you and the game you’re playing if you’re a fan of offset sticks they’re yours traditional his 4 If you prefer a directional D-pad, there are nostalgic options.
For a controller that costs less than many of its competitors, you’re getting an amazing amount of money. There are also two D-pad replacements, and some analog stick variations. One of these was a tall, FPS-oriented right stick that allowed for smaller aiming adjustments than would normally be possible with a controller.

Pro BFG can be used wirelessly with a small USB dongle or in wired mode via USB-C. The seemingly bottomless case should also contain a 3-meter braided cable and dongle.
One of the nice design advantages of this controller is that the small screws that hold each module in place are permanent. This is great. Because they’re the kind of thing that’s easy to lose and can only be replaced by buying another controller.

The back of the controller has 4 rear buttons that can be programmed into 3 custom profiles. At the time of writing, Victrix’s PC software doesn’t seem to support the controller, but the company’s website has a handy user guide that walks you through the various processes of remapping and recalibrating. Don’t worry, this is very easy and most of the time you can fix it without any help from the user guide.
Finally, in terms of features, there’s a trigger stop controlled via a switch on the back of the controller, as well as an excellent ‘Tournament Lock’ mode. disappears. There is a function button on the front of the controller that can be used while holding down the up and down directional pad keys to adjust the game volume. Or press the function button twice to mute him or hold it down and use L1 and R1 to switch audio profiles.

performance
If you haven’t guessed already, I’ve been very happy with the Victrix Pro BFG’s performance in all the different games I’ve played. Especially in a game that feels like it needs to be competitive, a controller feels like the perfect tool for the job. The cushion and back button always feel comfortable in your hand.
Unfortunately it’s not perfect. Like the fastest supercar stripped of its core essentials to keep up with speed only, the Pro BFG ditches any kind of vibration or haptic feedback features. This was an immediate disappointment, especially when playing God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West, the PS5’s first party-exclusive games, but it wasn’t something to miss for long. I didn’t even think about it when the feature would really help me play the game.
Especially the usability of the back button was outstanding.Position-wise, it’s positioned similarly to the Nacon Revolution Unlimited and Razer Raiju Tournament Edition, but it’s bigger, easier to push, and feels like something added with comfort in mind.HUNT: Showdown Competitive FPS games that often require constant camera control, such as Apex Legends and[戻る]I found that with the buttons, more functionality was available. Having just reviewed the DualSense Edge, this controller really reminds me that it has four additional buttons instead of just two.

Sadly, one customizable feature I felt was missing was the ability to add weight. Immediately, the Pro BFG feels very light. As someone who usually prefers a more rugged gamepad with a bit more weight, I really appreciate being able to slot a few small weights into the grip. , which provided a bit more of a gaming feel.
The other slight drawback in performance is using BFG in wireless mode. I thought the battery life would be longer than it actually is because I’ve cut the waste, but it actually lasts just as long as a regular DualSense, just under 20 hours. On the other hand, the charging time felt noticeably faster than any other wireless controller I’ve used, so swings and roundabouts. He had one instance where pairing was an issue while gaming, but other than that, the wireless dongle has been very stable.

Should I buy the Victrix Pro BFG Controller?
If you put water in a cup, it becomes a cup. When you pour water into a teapot, it becomes a teapot. Likewise, no matter what gaming task I used the Victrix Pro BFG for, it provided truly optimal performance, making it the perfect controller for the job. There are definitely some drawbacks here. BFG is uncomfortably stripped down in the pursuit of great functionality. But in my opinion the value for money and sheer versatility you get with this controller is absolutely worth it. Comfortable.
For me, this is easily recommended as a PS5 and PC controller – despite mostly minor issues. Many gamers complained about the DualSense Edge’s high price. The Victrix Pro BFG isn’t cheap by any means (especially during a cost of living crisis), but it chooses to be cheaper than its competitors, reaffirming what it truly adds. Value for this type of game accessory.
How to test the Victrix Pro BFG controller
The Victrix Pro BFG has been my PS5 controller of choice for the past two weeks before this review. We used it in conjunction with the DualSense Edge to get as many comparative notes as possible. To test its modular capabilities, I swapped out different attachments and played as many genres of games as possible. I mainly used Pro BFG to play FPS games like HUNT: Showdown and Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2. Elsewhere, I played God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, and Rollerdrome. For platforming and fighting games, I played Tekken 7 and Towerfall Ascension. I have used the controller in both wired and wireless mode on PS5 and PC.
