Over the years, consumers have gradually become accustomed to paying subscriptions for services that allow them to enjoy a large number of goods that previously had to be paid separately. We’ve seen it all over the industry, and throughout its adaptation, we’ve seen services like PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass bring it to games.
meta quest 2 (opens in new tab) is a console in every way, but unlike Xbox or PlayStation, there is no equivalent subscription service that allows gamers to play games for a bundled price. That seems to be changing, as Meta is reportedly testing a Quest Pass subscription service that allows gamers to choose two games for “free” each month and keep them for as long as they subscribe.
Its business model is the same as the lower tier of PlayStation Plus, which offers a preset list of free games each month. No word yet on pricing, but if done right, this could be a great new way for VR gamers to experience the full game without paying the full retail price.
Apollo program

Click this link if you have the Meta Quest app installed on your smartphone. (opens in new tab) Go to the Project Apollo page within the app. For most people, this may appear as a flat gray page with no information, but for some, this page (opens in new tab) Provides details of what might be called a quest pass.
Details are scarce at this time, but Meta will allow gamers to choose any two apps or games from a huge list of the best Quest games each month. (opens in new tab) As long as you subscribe to the Quest Pass, it will be permanently stored in your library.
Given that we expect at least 41 new apps and games (opens in new tab) for quest 3 (opens in new tab) With it launching later this fall, it certainly makes sense for Meta to offer some type of subscription service so gamers can get in on the action without having to pay the full retail price for the entire experience. That is.
Quest Pass is almost identical to the PlayStation Plus model, with one major exception. It’s that gamers can choose the game, not the meta.
This type of subscription service is new to Quest, but not VR. HTC has for years offered a subscription service called Viveport that offers a more Netflix or Xbox Game Pass style service.
The difference between these, as you know, is that Netflix has unlimited access to everything in its library. However, like Netflix, Viveport and Xbox Game Pass games and apps won’t always be around forever.
When your favorite apps, games, shows, or movies disappear from these types of subscription services, often the only way to keep using or watching them is to buy them outright.
With Quest Pass, like PlayStation Plus, games billed with a Quest Pass subscription will remain in your library forever as long as you continue your subscription, so users won’t fall prey to such a business model. is not.
Help improve retention

Meta recently held a “VR Summit” where several executives got together to discuss strategy. The follow-up was a presentation for all Reality Labs employees, outlining the company’s movements over the next few years.
in that presentation (opens in new tab), it turns out that the company is slashing the price of the 256GB Quest 2, the Quest Pro, and that some prototype models are being canceled to slim down the company’s hardware profile. In other words, Meta is working towards streamlining its releases, focusing on the products that are released today rather than the next big thing.
This might be the best way for Meta to keep users coming back for new content each month.
We also find that while the Quest 2 continues to outsell the Xbox, passing the 20 million unit sales milestone, new users aren’t playing as often as those who bought the headset before. I got
One common complaint we hear is that VR games are too expensive. Meta recently started offering demos that allow gamers to download the full his version of the game and play it for a short time before deciding whether to purchase the game.
However, we also hear that this period is not enough to make a decision. Alternatively, gamers can purchase the game outright, play for up to two hours, and then receive a refund under the current business model. It’s far more consumer-friendly than Sony’s terrible PlayStation digital games. (opens in new tab) Model, no doubt.
So this new model will be a huge boon for developers looking to reach more people with their games, and for the meta, to keep people coming back and playing more often each month. I think.. I’m still waiting for the official Xbox Game Pass app to be released for Quest (which might help some headsets stay on more hours per month) , Quest Pass is the right way for gamers to stay immersed in real VR gaming.

Meta included two games on the Quest 2 and just lowered the price of the 256GB model. What are you waiting for? A great way to play VR games.
