The versatile nature of this all-purpose cooker means it comes with a higher price tag than other simpler models. At nearly £80, the Good to Go is one of Russel Hobbs’ more expensive appliances. Unpacking the Russell Hobbs Good To Go 6.5L Electric Multicooker
When I received the package from the postman at my doorstep, I was surprised at the weight of the rice cooker. At just over 3kg, it’s not easy to carry around the house. The pot was wrapped in cardboard which was easy to unbox and remove.
On first impression, the rice cooker looked impressively sleek. The matte black color fit my kitchen perfectly, and the easy-to-follow instructions made it easy to set up and get me cooking without too much fuss.

How to make one-pot chicken pasta
A quick browse to Russell Hobbs’ website offers several video recipes that can be made in just a slow cooker. I opted for the one-pot chicken pasta, which requires very little effort and very little washing up.
A rice cooker has many functions, so I boiled pasta in a pot, grilled chicken, peppers, and tomatoes, and finally cooked cream, peas, and spinach.
The recipe doesn’t have much information about how much to cook each part of the meal, so it took some trial and error to get it right.
Cooking the pasta took the same amount of time as it did on the stovetop, but once it was done you had to transfer it to another plate while the chicken was cooking. Convenient and didn’t require much stirring.
Putting it all together was easy, and the “keep warm” feature allowed me to reheat the pasta a bit as it cooled down in the process of waiting for the rest of the dish to be ready.

rice farming
I’ve always struggled to cook rice perfectly every time, so I wanted to try the slow cooker’s rice cooking feature.
The instruction manual clearly explains this simple process. Wash the rice and then place it in the slow cooker with just enough water to cover the grains. A general rule of thumb is 2 cups of water to 1 cup of rice. Now all you have to do is sit back and relax while the rice cooker does everything.
It takes a little longer to cook the rice compared to the traditional method of cooking on the stovetop, but I think it’s worth it to cook the perfect rice every time.

making vegetable stew
It’s getting colder, so I wanted something warm and warm for dinner, so I used the fry & delay start function to make a stewed vegetable dish.
I started by cooking a pile of chopped vegetables using the fryer setting. The settings automatically adjust the temperature and are preset for 30 minutes, but this is easily adjustable.
After 30 minutes, my veggies were well cooked and tender, but not mushy. Next, I added the spinach, canned tomatoes, and stock cubes to the pan and set the slow cooker on high for 2 hours.
I used a delayed start timer so the slow cooker would start simmering the veggies later in the day.
When I got home, the stew needed a quick stir and an additional 30 minutes on the low setting to absorb more liquid.

Berry custard tart making
So far, I’ve been impressed with the electric cooker’s ability to do just about anything, but I was skeptical that it could even make dessert. so i thought i’d give it a try.
I started by boiling the cream, milk and vanilla in my slow cooker and strained it into a bowl. I then added the eggs and sugar and whisked them until I had a smooth mixture. Using the sous vide setting, the custard pot he cooks for 20 minutes and chills in the refrigerator. I usually sprinkle chopped strawberries on the pot, but when I baked it in a slow cooker with sugar, it was delicious.
The end result was pretty impressive – they were well cooked, flavorful, and quicker to make than my usual recipes.
How does it compare to similar models and their predecessors?
The Russell Hobbs Good To Go 6 is definitely an upgrade from the previous model. It has a sleeker design, has far more features, and the removable pot is perfect for bringing food straight to the table.
However, compared to other options such as the Ninja 9-in-1 multicooker, this model’s interface looks a bit outdated. Many modern slow cookers are programmed via a touch screen or have Bluetooth/WiFi capabilities that link to your phone so you can control them from a distance.
Should I buy the Russell Hobbs Good To Go 6.5L Electric Multi-Cooker?
The Good to Go Cooker is one of the most versatile kitchen appliances I’ve seen in a long time. Its versatility makes cooking one-pot meals incredibly easy. You can cook pasta, bake tarts or stew casseroles.
Its large size means it takes up space on your countertop, so be careful if you’re short on space. It is particularly suitable for
It’s more expensive than other rice cookers on the market, but its versatility, durable construction, and easy-to-use interface justify the price.
