T-Mobile USA has begun notifying customers affected by another breach at the company. This may have compromised a large amount of personal and account data.
The telecommunications giant said in a breach notification that its systems flagged an unauthorized intrusion in March. From late February 2023 to March 2023, malicious actors accessed hundreds of customer accounts.
No financial information or call log data was obtained, but those affected should be on the lookout for any subsequent fraudulent activity.
“The information obtained for each customer varied, but included name, contact information, account number and associated phone number, T-Mobile account PIN, social security number, government ID, date of birth, outstanding balance, and T. It may contain internal codes obtained from – Mobile is used to service customer accounts (such as rate plans and feature codes) and line numbers,” the letter explains.

T-Mobile said it has already reset the PINs on affected customers’ T-Mobile accounts and is offering two years of free credit monitoring and identity theft detection services.
“Also, monitor your account activity and free credit reports, and review your email, financial, and other account security choices to stay vigilant,” T-Mobile warned.
“We encourage our customers to use the features T-Mobile offers, including account takeover protection, number forwarding PIN, two-factor authentication, free fraud protection with Scam Shield, SIM protection, security dashboard, and more.”
The news, which affected just over 800 customers, comes just months after the operator revealed a massive breach that affected nearly 37 million consumers.
The incident, which occurred after the attackers targeted a public API, went undiscovered for about a month and a half.
US carriers have suffered multiple breaches over the years, including one that impacted nearly 49 million customers in August 2021.
