I like to think my dogs experience the world the same way I do. increase. But until recently, I hadn’t even wondered if dogs could understand the concept of questions.
I was prompted to ponder this after a conversation with David Wolpert, who is based at the Santa Fe Institute in New Mexico. He is a scholar with extensive experience in many fields. Recently, he delved deeper into intelligence and its limits.
In a video call with my dog sitting behind me, Wolpert told me about his latest work focusing on the nature of human intelligence. He points out that human knowledge has inherent limitations, just as we lack an understanding of Wolpert is not the first to talk about unknown unknowns, but in a recent paper he approached the topic from a different angle.
As refreshing as it is, it’s an admittedly tricky area, but these are some of the most profound questions in science, says Wolpert. The artificial intelligence revolution is upon us and we need to consider them now, he says.
