Meet Microsoft Windows 11 23H2

Beat Clippy, only Windows Copilot took its place

When Windows 11 23H2 is released, Windows Copilot and its Bing and ChatGPT plugins will be added to computers just in time for the fall. Bleeping Computer tried it, and as you can imagine, it turned out to be less than perfect. Even before delving into its features, they were already disappointed. The AI assistant’s interface resembles “he’s running Bing.com inside Microsoft Edge, rather than a fully integrated part of the operating system.” This may change once Copilot is more fully integrated into the OS. That will require more work than just a feature update like Windows 11 23H2.

Performance is a bit slow when searching the web or performing actions, and the suggestions provided by Windows Copilot are often sub-optimal. Not only does it search the web for possible answers to your questions, it also enhances Snap Assist, Copy/Paste, and Snipping Tool in specific ways to help you navigate the complex web of Windows personalization.

If that’s not enough, the full WinUI integration completely changes the look and feel of File Explorer and provides a ton of extraneous information, including suggestions for files that Azure Active Directory business users might want to open. This doesn’t make a lot of sense as described, but it can look very similar to previously opened files served by O359 applications. The good news is that you can turn this feature off, at least for now.
