Would you believe me if I told you that Netflix was making a documentary about dogs worth $400 million? Probably not, but yes.
Gunther’s Millions Follow the true story of Gunther VI, the German Shepherd who inherited all of his owner’s fortune. And this is where things get weird. His owner was a mysterious countess with no heir. So she gave her own dog a multi-million dollar fortune and left her in the care of her late son’s best friend, Maurizio Mian. Mian then used her new canine friends to build an entire empire.
The world’s richest dog owned a private jet, ate a piece of gold steak, and even bought Madonna’s mansion. It’s fun and a little depressing to see a German Shepherd living a life no match for us. Gunther’s Millions It’s a Netflix documentary after all, so naturally things get dark quickly.
There are lies behind Gunther’s fortune and a strange cult going on in his mansion. Many women live in Gunther’s house and “keep him company.” It reveals one twist after another, including tax evasion, a debate about whether the Countess is actually real, and whether there could be more than one Gunther.
Unseen footage, interviews with women who lived with Gunther, and all from Mian, the man behind all the mess you see in this trailer. Gunther’s Millions It promises to be a whirlwind roller coaster of lies behind the world’s richest pet.
Gunther’s Millions Premieres February 1st on Netflix.
