Justin Roiland, co-creator of Rick and Morty and founder of High on Life Studio Squanch Games, has been charged with felony domestic violence and wrongful imprisonment in California. According to an NBC News report (opens in new tab)the charges relate to criminal charges filed in May 2020 for events that occurred in January 2020, the proceedings of which have not been publicly reported to date.
The victim in this incident is anonymous Jane Doe, who was dating Roiland at the time of the incident, which reportedly occurred around January 19, 2020. Roiland was then arrested and in August she was released on a $50,000 bond before she pleaded not guilty in October 2020.
According to court records, Royland was ordered to harass and not come within 100 feet of his victim and was asked by the court to surrender his firearm.
