Let’s take a peek at those chiplets
We’ll still have to wait a bit to benchmark the newly announced Ryzen 7000X3D series chips, but we’ve learned quite a bit about them. rice field. You can see it here. It’s a bit short as we don’t have the full technical specs yet, but it reflects what AMD learned when he spoke with Scott Stankard, director of product management for AMD clients.
As announced, the chip contains two CCDs with 8 cores each, only one of which contains a 3D cache. In theory, both Windows 10 and Windows 11 can tell the difference between the two CCDs, so most games will default to using X3D CCDs, and less threaded applications will use non-X3D CCDs. .
This design means that the CCD with 3D cache will have a slightly lower boost clock than other cores, and cannot be overclocked to match other cores. The chip wasn’t designed with that in mind, and even if someone finds a workaround, it can cause stability issues.
