The week after the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) always feels like one big tech hangover. Contestants found him relegated to the very near (and often far-fetched) future for a week. We saw the world’s first color-changing concept car (thanks, BMW). We marveled at LG’s giant 97-inch OLED TV. This is his one of the first wireless models of its kind. We did what CES folks often do.
After a rough year of 2022 filled with COVID scare that forced many major exhibitors to attend the convention in person, the show needed a year like this. , as did companies like Google and Lenovo (foldable dual-screen laptops made headlines).
Every square inch felt alive this time, after last year’s show floor was decimated by the lack of foot traffic. Crowded halls full of international travelers kept exhibitors busy. The Boring Company’s Las Vegas Convention Center loop he operated around the clock, with Tesla cars traveling through underground tunnels and through connecting pathways to West Hall and Resorts World.
It rained heavily on the first day, and an eerie dystopian darkness, like a deleted scene from a movie, covered the city. blade runner 2049It suits some moods black mirror– technology like I’ve seen.
I never took the warnings about artificial intelligence replacing us seriously… until I saw Xorbis’ Sketcher X robot drawing people in real time. Disembodied “artistic performance humanoids” are very similar to 2004’s bots. i robotThere must have been a heartbeat if it weren’t for the large robotic arms sticking out of the sides. Its eyes blink naturally and its lips open and close incredibly. “I’m done with your analysis now,” he messaged the participants who sat down to have her caricature drawn. “Now let’s have a nice conversation.”
The robot responds to what is being discussed by raising an eyebrow or smiling while drawing. The portraits created were croquis his sketches of fine lines, taking into account factors such as facial expressions, structure, and eyeglasses. But Sketcher X lets you create more advanced drawings in a number of ways.
Nuvilab’s AI Food Scanner
Virtual humans were another big ticket at CES this year. The floor was full of holograms and virtual shopping assistants, and DeepBrain AI’s ultra-realistic 2D and 3D AI humans were amazing. The startup can create virtual replicas of a person’s body, mannerisms, and voice through deep learning, video and audio synthesis technology, and his capture of the subject’s motion in a face-to-face studio. Scripts can be programmed into the AI. DeepBrain was introduced using a virtual twin created by comedian Howie Mandel who answered questions from the CES audience.
Additionally, DeepBrain has a service called ReMemory. It uses the company’s technology to process pre-captured video interviews with elderly loved ones, allowing it to create a human AI for her after their death. We’re definitely catching up on science fiction here.
From Sony and Honda’s new electric Afeela to $3,300 self-driving strollers, everyone raced to find the next big thing on the show floor. My personal favorite gadgets were skewed toward technology that I could predict would be used in the world anytime soon.
Nuvilab’s AI food scanner quickly highlighted its potential in our personal meals, school cafeterias and restaurants. The scanner analyzes and identifies what’s on your plate in real time, displaying calories, nutrients, amounts and potential allergens. It can also reduce food waste in restaurants by showing how much produce and money is wasted when leftovers are discarded. Nuvilab operates in South Korea, but is expanding its business in partnership with Microsoft and Nestlé.
Agrist offered more sophisticated food technology with an autonomous pepper-picking robot called ‘L’. A harvester designed to address the challenges of Japan’s agricultural labor shortage and aging farmers will free up significant time for them. You will be able to profit from the results of
Robots as a service seemed like a common theme this year. Aeolus Robotics has debuted its dual-arm robot Aeo as the next possible addition to hospitals. Autonomous and inherently tireless, his Aeo is capable of making deliveries and patrolling mapped areas. You can also open doors, disinfect with UV rays, and even take elevators. It’s also programmed to check on patients, send alerts about fallen seniors, and detect people who aren’t allowed into the area. And with his 360-degree camera built into Aeo, the operator can take advantage of what Aeo sees, like a live stream.
bird buddy
By the end of CES, I was full of robots. So when I found Bird Buddy, one rep said, “It’s like Pokémon GO I was intrigued. Bird Buddy captures footage of every bird you visit, uses its AI to identify its species, and generates a document for your phone. Hear their calls, see photos and videos, and find out where they came from.
Ultimately, you have a collection of birds in your gallery and a way to review other people’s birds through community features. It’s birdwatching without leaving your backyard. And in this fast-changing world, sometimes you need something very simple.
