Harley-Davidson has teamed up with renowned British architecture firm Heatherwick Studio to transform an unused parking lot at its headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin into a new park for both pedestrians and motorcyclists. .
The Juneau Avenue Campus Headquarters Park will be built around a new outdoor amphitheater-like multi-purpose event space named Hub, which will replace the old parking lot. Constructed using 10 locally sourced bricks, natural wood and weathered steel.
Hubs are lined with tiered seating and bike areas, including driveways, turning circles, and parking lots. It offers a choice of Harley-Davidson’s original home and a new nearby park area that has been created with 120 species of native plants and trees (probably a nod to his 120-year operation of Harley-Davidson). There are also plans to create market areas and gardens, so-called natural playgrounds.
