Today’s Best Price: Briiv Air Filter
An open glass jar rests on a black base and a thick coconut mat under a spongy quagmire of green moss in a reindeer forest. You could be forgiven for thinking that Briiv was some sort of plant experiment.
But it’s not. This is an air filter that seeks to provide an alternative to the growing number of plastic parts and his HEPA filters that end up in landfills each year with no way of disassembling.
Instead of “greening” industrial technology miniaturized home air purifiers, Briiv has come up with a new approach. It uses biodegradable organic materials in its filters and uses low wattage equipment (only 5W).
Great to see, touch and smell. The reindeer moss has a charm that makes you pick it up and roll it, so please be careful if you have small children. they can’t leave it alone.
Let’s take a closer look.
Configuration
- Briiv is a little bigger than a kettle
- Easy to set up
- Connect via Wi-Fi
Briiv consists of a black plastic base, three organic filters, a glass bottle, a manual, a power cable and a power adapter.

The base is 16 cm in diameter. It is wider than a domestic kettle, so it requires a moderately sized surface. For example, it doesn’t just dominate a bedside table, but it can also be used on a sideboard or a chest of drawers without any problem.
The base is 11.5cm tall and has a USB port on the back for the included power adapter. A black cloth filter wraps around the air outlet.
This part of the setup is wonderfully medieval.
Place a 10 cm x 10 cm cardboard matrix filter on this base. This filter will last for 3 months. Equipped with an activated carbon accordion, this filter can trap materials up to PM2.5, including particulates and VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds: think emissions from paints, printers, adhesives, permanent markers, etc.). increase.
Coconut filter is on top. This he lasts for a year and is made of waste coconut shells that have been repurposed into filtration fibers. A dense, spongy mesh with a hint of toast that targets PM5 particles such as dirt, dust and smoke.
Then put a glass bottle on top. It drops down the sides of the coconut filter, holds it in place and snaps into the base. Reminds me of a Victorian bell jar.
Then add the dark forest green reindeer moss that comes in a hessian drawstring bag.th Century Apothecary draws on natural ingredients for poultices.

About 80 grams of moss are obtained, which lasts for a year. Briiv says it’s naturally grown, ethically harvested, and removes his PM10 particles such as pollen and pet dander.
All of these filters are biodegradable which is the big point of the product.
The Briiv is about 23cm tall overall and comes with a 140cm long braided black USB cable that plugs into the base, giving you plenty of room to place it near a power socket.
surgery
- Simple on-filter touch controls
- In-app control
Briiv is operated from the touch control zone on the front of the base or from the app.
The control zone on the front of the base is very simple. Scale from 1 to 4 dots, plus and minus points to expand or contract. Next to this is the 1 hour boost touch button. This is a cleansing mode that clears his 6m x 6m space in an hour, but the filter runs at max during this time.

To use the app available for Apple and Android, download it from the app store or scan the QR code on the manual. After setting up your Briiv account and entering your email address and password, a verification code will be sent to your email. Then you can add devices.
To do this, press Briiv’s 1 hour touch button for 8 seconds to put the purifier into configuration mode. Then go to his Wi-Fi settings on your phone and connect to his Briiv network you see there. At this point, the app will ask you to key in your Wi-Fi network name and password, and that’s how Briiv will connect via Wi-Fi.
The app itself is simple and well designed. There is a button to turn off Briiv, a button to raise the output by 4 steps, and a button to lower it. You can schedule Briiv to turn on and off at specific times and speeds on specific days. There is a tab showing the filter status and a 1 hour boost button.

performance
- Briiv doesn’t run quietly
- 4 speed options
- unique natural scent
At dot 1 speed, Briiv is barely audible. You can definitely sleep while this mode is working. In fact, I tried it all night and it didn’t bother me at all.
Velocity 2 is audible (Briiv says 45dB) with a slight buzz, and air movement can be felt from 80cm away.
Velocity 3 is important. Speed 4 is powerful, similar to the noise level of a desktop fan. Briiv’s site classifies it at 70dB or less for him, the same as washing machines and showers, which is pretty noisy. You can feel the air movement from 120cm away.
So much for what it looks like and what it sounds like. Here are the questions:
Briiv’s claim is that the air filter is as powerful as 3,043 medium-sized houseplants. This is impossible to verify and is especially useless if you are trying to decide whether to buy this air purifier or another.
In the site’s FAQ, Briiv says it delivers 53 cubic feet of purified air per minute on its maximum setting. This equates to a CADR of 90 cubic meters per hour. Our highest rated air purifier, Jya Fjord, has a CADR of 450m.3 Briiv’s air cleaning capacity is only 20% per hour.
Burning pots in the kitchen don’t have the power to quickly remove smoke from your home. But what it can do is refresh a dusty or stuffy room.
The Briiv has no air quality indicators, so other than the smell and the sensation of air movement, there is nothing to tell you that something is happening.
What we can say is that when we tested the Briiv overnight with the windows closed during the winter months, our sleep was deeper and more refreshing, and the muffledness that is common when sleeping in an enclosed environment. It means that I woke up without a head. with central heating. This was done in a test environment where outside air quality was excellent, so if you live in an urban environment the difference may be even more pronounced.
Briiv’s filtered air smells like your room is outdoors or full of plants. During the test, there were various viewpoints, such as “It’s a spring lawn.” “It’s like walking into a flower shop.” “It’s seaweed on the beach.” “It’s like walking through the woods of May.” “It’s like the glasshouse at Kew Gardens.”
you get the picture No matter what you say, the atmosphere of the room changes completely.
price and availability
You can’t get around the price. Briiv is an expensive kit.
If you’re in the US, it will cost you around $360+ (Goop has the best price at the time of writing). A one-year supply of replacement filters is available for $42.
Generally £329 in the UK, but the best price we found is from Appliance City at £299.99. Replacement filters aren’t too expensive at £34.99 for the 1-year Moss Matrix set. This includes 1 Moss Filter, 1 Replacement Coconut Filter, and 4 Nano Matrix Filters (accordion squares of cardboard).
Make your room smell like Woodland Dell.
If you’re in the UK, Briiv also makes a black edition for VOC and odor removal (Briiv, £334). It uses bamboo carbon blocks instead of moss and could be a useful alternative for those who like a modern, industrial style. at your home.
verdict
Briiv is lovely. on every level. At this price point, it’s definitely a luxury item, but if you’re looking for gentle air purification, I think it’s worth it. It’s fascinating to look at and your room will smell like a dell in the woods. It’s a really special object to interact with – we occasionally touched the moss in the jar and couldn’t avoid picking it up and sniffing it.
Moreover, it affects the depths of the human psyche. We’ve been using moss for thousands of years, but it’s right around the corner and it feels oddly right to use this natural product today. If so, you can expect compelling hybrid innovations.
