What do you look for when buying an e-reader? Effortless reading, portability, clear text, and long battery life would be at the top of the list of reasons for most people. In fact, Amazon These factors have made the Kindle a favorite of millions of people around the world since its launch in 2007.
So what’s new in the latest Amazon Kindle (11th Generation)?
The device is smarter and navigation is buttery smooth compared to previous editions. There are no glitches or noticeable delays when sifting through menus, modes, pages and functions, and overall, interacting with the device is a much more pleasant experience.
Strong Points
- Slightly lighter and smaller than conventional models
- 300ppi high resolution display
- built-in light
- Good cost performance
- USB-C charging
Cons
- not waterproof
- Display temperature cannot be adjusted
A sharper display, but still no warm light
The device has a gorgeous 300ppi display, almost double the previous version which was only 167ppi. The basic Kindle now has the same resolution as the high-end premium e-readers (Paperwhite, Paperwhite Signature, Scribe) released in 2022. As a result, text, book covers, and images look more lifelike on a crisp screen. It’s easier on the eyes and more comfortable in different lighting settings. You are now close to reading real text on paper with a basic model. To be honest, the low resolution wasn’t an issue that avid readers would care about, but now it suddenly seems like a solid reason to ditch the old Kindle Basic and upgrade.
While we’re in the display department, it’s worth noting that the base model continues to lack a warm light feature. It puts a strain on your eyes and reading at bedtime can be a pain on the new device.
Simple design with storage boost
There is no change in the look and feel of the device. But the new body color ‘denim’ is a pleasant change from the black and white options of previous editions. Of course, the black version is still available, but the white version is no longer available. It’s still all plastic, and it’s a pretty crappy gadget. But it’s sturdy enough that you feel confident handling it. I don’t want to
The good news is that this is the Kindle that takes my 2019 Oasis to places I wouldn’t normally carry it. Its plastic isn’t as cool to the touch as the aforementioned device, but there’s an attractive cover that Amazon is offering for the new Kindle. to wake or sleep like a premium device. It also eased a bit of my trepidation about the effects of gravity on the new Kindle.
It certainly feels lighter and more pocketable than its premium sibling. It also has a ton of memory (16 GB), so you can take thousands of books with you wherever you go. E-books don’t take up that much space these days, but the extra storage comes in handy if you use the Bluetooth feature to store and play Audible audiobooks.
If you read for 1 hour to 30 minutes a day, the battery will last 4 to 6 weeks.

USB-C charging cable
The new Kindle features a USB Type-C port for charging, and with more and more devices moving to the C port compared to micro USB ports, this is a nice update. Now you can use the same charger and cable as your phone, instead of being forced to carry around a micro-USB cable.
PDF viewing experience
The Kindle Basic handled PDF text and images very well. There were no glitches or lags, and the images rendered very well when zooming in, out, or moving between pages and images. Along with the sharper screen, this is good news for fans of comics and comics, but the smaller screen size kills the enjoyment in my opinion.
The device has integrated Bluetooth and can read text on the screen aloud when paired with a speaker. No, it’s all the text on the page, not just the audiobook. This feature is also available in previous versions and is actually a very useful bonus. I’m still baffled as to why Amazon doesn’t add speakers, or at least provide audio output for any Kindle.
