In 2014, Bureau (formerly Bureau A) built a futuristic residence named Antoine that blends into the Swiss Alps. The company is now following up that design with another literary-inspired micro-cabin named Thérèse with a rock-like exterior finish.
Like Antoine, Thérèse is inspired by novels by author Charles Ferdinand Rams. DevolenceThe story features the protagonist, Antoine, who survives a rockfall and spends several weeks buried under rubble before his final escape. Antoine’s wife’s name is Thérèse.
Nestled in a rural woodland area in an artistic residence in eastern France, the Micro Cabin is constructed of wood and clad in a rock-like concrete finish. The interior measures 8.8 square meters (28 square feet) and is finished in natural wood. At least from the photos, it looks less claustrophobic than expected thanks to the abundance of natural light from the large installed porthole-like windows.

Most of the available floor space is taken up by a single room containing a wood stove that can also be used for cooking, some storage space, a table and some bench seating. There are some additional bench seats nearby.
The interior also features a small house-style mezzanine sleeping area accessed by a ladder. However, there are no bathrooms in the cabins, so visitors should take advantage of the woods instead when nature calls.
