Weiss, who also served as the Wolverines’ quarterback coach, released a statement of his own on Friday and also declined to comment on the investigation.

Athletic director Walde Manuel announced the news on Friday, saying Weiss was fired “after reviewing university policy.”
“I salute the University of Michigan and the people who make it such a great place,” he said.
The Detroit News reports that Weiss’ home in Ann Arbor, Michigan, was raided by police on January 10. He has not been charged with any crime and claims to be cooperating with the police investigation.
Weiss was hired two years ago by head coach Jim Harbaugh, who promoted the 39-year-old Connecticut native to joint offensive coordinator in 2022.
Previously, Weiss worked with Harbaugh’s brother John, head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, in various assistant coaching positions for the NFL club.
Weiss was a walk-on punter who played for Vanderbilt from 2001-2003.
Michigan remained nearly undefeated with Weiss calling at least some of his offensive plays, while quarterback JJ McCarthy ranked 23rd in the nation in quarterback ratings. The Wolverines’ season ended with him losing to TCU in the college football playoff semifinals, but Michigan, with Weiss on staff, defeated rival Ohio State University twice.
