We recently asked our readers if LTE connectivity is a must-have feature for smartwatches. Ultimately, an LTE-connected smartwatch frees you from your smartphone, allowing you to receive calls and messages, stream music, or navigate from your wrist.
With over 3,200 votes, 50% said they were fine with just relying on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Nearly 30% said that in certain scenarios he would find it useful to have an LTE connection, but it is not required.Finally, 21% of the votes absolutely need LTE connectivity on your smartwatch.

Godwin Stewart of Twitter feels that LTE in smartwatches is unnecessary and redundant.
“LTE is totally pointless. I would never put myself in the position of having a watch but no phone and no Wi-Fi connection. When You must have internet access or be able to make calls on your watch. And pay for privileges that are never used? ”
A Twitter user named Cloverlief said the Galaxy Watch 4’s LTE didn’t prove to be very useful.
“No, I have an LTE-enabled Galaxy Watch 4. At first, the experience was terrible (overheating, etc.). Eventually an update fixed it. Honestly, I never use the LTE feature. No. When your contract expires, you should probably cancel and use Wi-Fi only.”

However, some users have no problem justifying the additional cost. George K says it’s useful for those who hike and travel a lot.
“To all those who somehow cannot justify this, me, hikers/explorers, and even drivers, countless times, countless times, countless times, I have relied on LTE connectivity countless times. 100% requirement when buying a smartwatch.”
Jordan Macedone agrees that LTE is useful, especially when it comes to receiving notifications.
“I have tried several different smartwatches and after a week or two they stop notifying me and I have to reset them to continue.
Switch to the LTE model and no longer have that problem. ”
Luckily, many of the best Android smartwatches are available in LTE models, but some companies like Fossil and Fitbit stick to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi only. Those interested in may want to stick with Samsung, Google, or even Mobvoi devices for added convenience. Works without LTE if you prefer.
