Match Group, the parent company of several popular dating apps such as Tinder and Hinge, has announced a revamped executive leadership team. Most notably, Snap is bringing on former VP of Product Will Wu as the new Chief Technology Officer in the newly created role. Wu said the Match app will oversee product innovation across the portfolio, the company said.
During his time at Snap, Wu led the team responsible for creating and commercializing Snap’s developer platform. Wu led the creation of many of Snap’s popular features, including the ‘Discover’ content his platform, the ‘Chat’ messaging feature, and Snap’s social gaming initiative. Going forward, Wu will work directly with management to launch new features, emerging technologies, and innovative products, Match said.

The company also announced that Gary Swindler, formerly Chief Operating Officer and Financial Officer of Match, will become Group President and Chief Financial Officer. Additionally, her Malgosia Green, former CEO of Plenty of Fish, will become Chief Executive Officer of Match Group Asia.
In another leadership change, Match and Affinity brand CEO Hesam Hosseini will assume a newly created role as Match Group CEO of Evergreen & Emerging Brands. In this role, Hosseini will oversee Match, Meetic, Plenty of Fish and OkCupid, in addition to emerging brands such as The League, BLK and Chispa. Finally, Hinge founder and CEO Justin McLeod will report directly to Kim.
Match said the new changes are designed to maximize profitability, drive growth, streamline operations and prioritize new business opportunities. The move comes as Match looks to expand beyond traditional swipe-based matchmaking into the so-called “metaverse.” Match has previously talked about plans for his Metaverse dating, with a virtual commodity-based economy, real-time audio, and the ability for online daters to meet and talk in a virtual space.
