Infinix Zero Ultra 5G debuted in India last month. It looks like an impressive product on paper, with features like a 200 million pixel main camera and support for 180W Thunder Charge fast charging. It features a MediaTek Dimensity 920 SoC combined with board storage. It was a trial price. It has risen to Rs 29,999. 36,999. But does the Infinix Zero Ultra 5G justify the price hike?
In this week’s episode of the Gadgets 360 podcast Orbital, host Siddharth Suvarna chats with reviewer Pranav Hegde and senior reviewer Sheldon Pinto to find out how Infinix Zero Ultra 5G compares to the competition.
Hegde has been using this smartphone for almost a month and was immediately amazed at Rs. Priced at 36,999 – Premium price for Infinix smartphones. Despite the high price, Hegde said the 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage are very good. The standout features, though, are the triple-rear 200-megapixel main camera and support for 180W Thunder Charge fast charging.
The handset has a curved display and split design. Hegde points out that part of the rear panel is leatherette and has a fiberglass section. Suvarna and Pinto are intrigued by the phone’s build quality. Infinix Zero Ultra 5G seems to be sub Rs. According to Hegde, 25,000 smartphones. A 6.8-inch curved AMOLED screen gives it a premium look. However, a fairly large screen seems to eat up a smartphone’s battery life.
Pinto asks about the performance of the MediaTek Dimensity 920 chipset. Hegde points out that the chipset is popular in the midrange segment. Job done! It offers a decent gaming experience and smooth performance under normal use. Pinto is pushing his experience with the lousy software on his Infinix smartphone so far. Hegde is an Infinix Zero Ultra 5G user, and he’s not even a fan of the interface. He doesn’t look as premium as Rs. The current selling price is 37,000 yen. Hegde adds that while the smartphone is somewhat feature-rich, it comes with some pre-installed apps. A clunky naming scheme can also disrupt the entire user experience.
Additionally, subpar battery performance and suboptimal automatic refresh rate switching make the Infinix Zero Ultra 5G experience even more confusing. The only positive side seems to be his 180W charger that comes in the box, Hegde says. Even the 200 megapixel camera is disappointing. On paper, the configuration looks solid, but the software isn’t optimized enough. Suvarna points out that Infinix isn’t known for software updates, so it may have to hold its breath to get a software patch in the near future. Finally, let’s talk about the competition this smartphone faces at sub Rs. 40,000 segments, users should consider purchasing.
