When it comes to health and fitness tracking, smartwatch OEMs tend to stick to their own methods. The Pixel Watch has Fitbit, Samsung’s Galaxy Watch has Samsung Health, and Fossil has a wellness app. has become a staple of recent smartwatch launches.
Smartwatches like the Fossil Gen 6 Wellness Edition utilize the Wellness app to monitor sleep, track workouts, and more. You can also sync your data with Google Fit to keep all your data in one place from your various devices.
Here’s how to get the most out of Fossil’s wellness app to stay healthy and fit.
Using the Wellness App on Fossil Wear OS smartwatches
The Wellness App comes preloaded on your Fossil smartwatch, so you don’t need to download it from the Play Store. Simply open the app menu and tap Wellness to access the app. Here you’ll find the main menu where you can easily view your stats and other options.
- activity: Track workouts and exercises indoors or outdoors.
- sleepy: View your sleep stats. Includes last sleep tracked and daily, weekly, and monthly stats.
- cardio fitness: Estimate your VO2 max (oxygen consumption) during activity based on variables such as resting heart rate, fitness performance, age, weight and gender. Shows progress over 1 month and 6 months.
- blood oxygen: Measures SpO2, the percentage of oxygen carried by the blood. A typical range is between 95% and 100%, but this depends on many factors. A Fossil smartwatch can automatically track her SpO2 while she sleeps. You can also check manually using the wellness app.
- Heart rate: Live reading of heart rate.
Adjust Wellness App Settings
Fossil allows you to control how your smartwatch tracks metrics. There are many options in the settings menu of the wellness app, but there is only one that you really need to pay attention to.To access, go to Wellness > Settings (scroll to bottom) > Account.

Here you can play around with some options.
- tracking settings: This allows you to switch between different tracking features such as sleep, max oxygen uptake, location, auto SpO2, continuous heart rate, auto workout detection and more. Not all of these features are available on older Fossil smartwatches.
- profile: You can view your personal profile such as date of birth, gender, weight and height. These entries can be edited in the Fossil Smartwatches app.
- alexa fitness: This gives you access to your Alexa Fitness settings. Enabling Alexa on your Fossil smartwatch allows Alexa to control your workout with your voice, give you workout cues during your workout, and provide summary stats after your workout.

Tracking your sleep with your Fossil smartwatch is as easy as sleeping. However, you need to make sure your watch is actually set to track. To enable this feature, open the Wellness app and go to: Settings > Account > Tracking SettingsFrom there, make sure Sleep is turned on. You can also toggle Auto Blood Oxygen to allow the app to monitor her SpO2 while she sleeps.
The app tracks different sleep stages such as light sleep, deep sleep, and how long you’re awake. This also includes naps. You can view your stats in the Health app and the Fossil Smartwatches app.

Tracking Workouts with the Wellness App
1. Open wellness app.
2. Tap “activity.”
3. select Training indoors or outdoors.
If you select ‘Indoor Workout’, you will be prompted to connect your smartwatch to an external device via Bluetooth. You can even skip straight to your workout.
Select “Outdoor Workout” to turn on location tracking. Tap Start Tracking to start your workout.
If your workout is being tracked, the app will display the duration and two additional metrics above and below the elapsed time. You can tap each of these to change what is displayed. Choose from Calories, Distance, Pace and Steps.
After your workout, you will be asked if you want to save your session.
Auto-detect specific workouts so you don’t have to manually start every exercise through the wellness app.

Edit your workout with the Fossil Smartwatches app
When you track your workout, the wellness app automatically records it as a run. Unfortunately, you can’t specify the type of workout you’re about to do from within the app. However, you can edit your workout later using his Fossil Smartwatches app on your smartphone.
1. Open Fossil smartwatch app.
2. Tap cardio icon.
3. select Entry to edit.
Four. Tap three dots and select Edit in the overflow menu.
5. At the top, to scroll option and select The activity that best describes your workout. Choose from running, spinning, cycling, treadmill, elliptical, weights, workouts, walking, low machines, and hiking.
6. Tap keep.

Edit your wellness profile and connect to Google Fit
You can view your profile in the Wellness app, but you cannot edit it from your smartwatch. Instead, you should refer to the Fossil Smartwatches app again to edit various aspects of your wellness profile. You can also connect the app with Google Fit to sync your data.
1. Open Fossil smartwatch app.
2. Tap Hamburger menu on the top left.
3. select wellness.

From here you will see three options for editing your wellness profile. Here’s what each option does:
- connected app: This allows you to sync your wellness data with Google Fit. Just tap Connect to Google Fit or Sign in with Google to get started.
- profile: Edit your date of birth, gender, height and weight.
- set goals: You can edit various goals. Edit your steps per day, active calories burned, active minutes per day, and sleep goal.

Fossil Gen 6 Wellness Edition
The Fossil Gen 6 Wellness Edition is a sleek Wear OS smartwatch that runs on both Android and iOS. It’s one of the few Wear OS 3 models available and has a ton of health and fitness tracking features. It also has Alexa built-in for quick access to Amazon’s voice assistant.
