Projects like Line and Mukaab make everything in Saudi Arabia feel bigger than life these days. The first state banquet, held to commemorate the founding of the country, was lavishly held in a gigantic tent-like dome structure weighing over 300 tons specially created for the occasion. It’s probably not surprising.
Dubbed Bedayat (or Beginning/Inception), the project was built on a 6,000-square-meter (approximately 645,000-square-foot) helipad in Diriyah, Riyadh. Celebrate the origins and future of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a mix of live dance, original storytelling and performances combined with intricate lighting from over 1,000 LEDs and 36 projectors to welcome 1,500 guests on February 21st It provided a 360-degree synchronized visual experience depicting the vibrant scene. ceiling.
The structure itself consisted of a steel and textile framework that mirrored the floor plan, with four arches and a central oval ring 11 m (36 ft) above the stage area. Fully covered with woven PVC fabric. The construction process was a definite challenge, working while a Formula E race was taking place nearby, and it took him 13 days for the team of builders to complete.
“The 156-ton center ring was first lifted by 14 cranes and held in the air while the concrete at the base dried,” explained Designlab Experience. “The arches were built from top to bottom, not bolted but inserted into round-shaped steel holders that moved with the wind to stabilize the structure. We’ve done some balancing work to make it arch into the base without any computerized support.”

Bedayat was commissioned by the Saudi Ministry of Sports to celebrate the founding of the first Saudi state on February 22, 1727 (the modern state of Saudi Arabia was actually founded several hundred years ago). later in 1932). Since it was made in just one night, everything is set to be dismantled, and Designlab confirmed that “materials will be stored and reused for future projects as much as possible.”
