Huawei’s new P60 series is available in China this week (the P60 Art launches next week), and the company’s new foldable flagship will go on sale in a few weeks. It will be available in many markets as it is due to be launched. But would you actually buy one?
Let’s start with the Huawei Mate X3. It’s lightweight (239g) and foldable, with a large display (7.85″ main, 6.4″ cover, both at 120Hz), an IPX8 waterproof rating (unheard of outside Samsung’s lineup), and a 50+8+13MP camera . Trio including 5x periscope (125mm).

This phone isn’t cheap – at CNY 13,000 (around $2,000/€1,740), it’s comparable in price to the Galaxy Z Fold4 and more expensive than the vivo X Fold+ (CNY 10,000), Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 (CNY 9,000) and Oppo. Look for N2 (CNY 8,000). Keep in mind that only the Galaxy is widely available among them.

There is a new type of battery, silicon-carbon. This offers higher capacity without making the phone bulky or heavy. His one version of the Mate X3 and Huawei P60 Art uses it (getting a 260/285mAh boost compared to a regular battery), but they likely remain China-only. One of the certainly China-only features is two-way satellite communication capabilities using the BeiDou constellation.

The Huawei P60 Pro is the only one we know will roll out internationally, so we’ll skip the other two. Considering the camera hardware you have, it’s a pretty good deal.
Huawei’s specialty is RYYB sensors, and more recently variable aperture. The main camera has a 48MP sensor and lens that can be adjusted in 10 steps from f/1.4 to f/4.0 depending on lighting conditions and choices. The Pro model also features a 90mm periscope with an impressively bright f/2.1 aperture and a high-resolution 48MP sensor. Ultrawide modules are less attractive with a 13MP sensor.

Powered by a standard lithium battery, the P60 Pro has a capacity of 4,815mAh and supports 88W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. For comparison, the P60 Art’s silicon carbon battery has a capacity of 5,100mAh and supports the same charging speed.
