Best Buy is interested in doing more to address e-waste by introducing a whole new way to make it easier for consumers.The company was officially launched (opens in new tab) Its new Recycle Tech Box is a brand new program aimed at tackling the used tech drawers in our homes. The technology and electronics retailer says the program is available nationwide and is part of its goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2040.
Starting today, consumers nationwide can now order prepaid formulas (opens in new tab) Technology boxes for shipping unused high-tech equipment such as phones, computers (laptops), tablets and cables. The small tech box (9 X 5 X 3) is priced at $22.99 and has a 6 lb load capacity. A large box (18 X 14 X 4) costs $29.99 and holds 15 pounds of unused tech.

When the box arrives, Best Buy instructs the consumer to fill the box up to the weight limit and provides a detailed list. (opens in new tab) So is the number of devices allowed. Finally, since the box is already prepaid, you can bring it to your UPS drop-off or schedule a UPS pickup to pick it up from your home.
Best Buy will notify consumers that the service will responsibly delete all data upon receipt of the device and prior to recycling the device (if they have not done so themselves).
