The Google Now Launcher came out with Android almost a decade ago, concentrating the UI on Google Now cards. The Nexus 5 default launcher will be retired in April.
The latest beta version of the Google app (v14.14) revealed that devices with the Google Now Launcher would receive the message “The launcher will change to the device’s default launcher”.

Google Now Launcher has been in a downward spiral for a long time. In 2017, its main feature, the Google Now service, became available on his OEM launcher, and Google moved to Pixel Launcher for its own phones. GNL continued to receive updates through the Google app, but Now became less user-friendly as the Assistant moved to the fore.
The very few who still use Google Now Launcher can only keep it if they decide never to update their Google apps again.
