What you need to know
- Google has announced a new speaker isolation feature for Pixel 7 series owners.
- This is a Google Meet feature for Pixel 7 and 7 Pro users only.
- This feature will help Pixel 7 users more effectively separate audio from Google Meet participants.
Google Meet is often the default meeting app on most Android devices, especially Pixel devices. The search giant’s Duo app was also replaced by Google Meet last year for a more streamlined video and audio calling experience.
Google Meet will become more useful for Pixel 7 series users in the coming weeks. Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro users can use the new speaker separation feature in Google Meet meetings. When enabled, it’s a new setting that allows Pixel 7 device owners to find the speaker more effectively in Google Meet calls.
Users can more easily find call participants when speaking from different directions based on their screen position. In a multi-user call, the audio of the participants is distributed across the Android smartphone speakers, regardless of whether they are oriented horizontally or vertically.

However, not all phones support stereo speakers. For now, the new Google Meet feature appears to be exclusive to Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. According to Google Workspace’s announcement post, this new feature will give users a more immersive and dynamic experience.
The Speaker Isolation System feature began rolling out to Pixel 7 smartphone owners this week. Continue doing this step by step over the course of two weeks. In addition to Pixel 7 series users, Google Workspace users and legacy G Suite Basic and Business users can take advantage of the new features if their devices are supported. Speaker isolation can be enabled in the audio and video settings within the app.
This new feature addresses the noise cancellation support added to Google Meet in the February 2023 update for Pixel devices.
