Google’s first tablet looks to be on track as it enters a more exciting stage of development. Tech devices always need to be certified before they hit the market, and the Google Pixel tablet seems to have just emerged as a stamp of approval.
According to 9to5Google, the FCC’s appearance didn’t tell us much. However, based on the connectivity options available on the device, the Google device with model number “GTU8P” is believed to be his long-awaited Pixel tablet. From the list, devices only include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Ultra Wideband (UWB) connectivity options.
If this is really the long-awaited Pixel Tablet, the biggest takeaway here is its UWB capabilities.UWB connectivity allows compatible devices to pass media to other speakers and devices such as Media Tap to Transfer. This could be an exciting feature as new connectivity features could open up on the Pixel Tablet.
Only two Google devices support UWB these days, the Pixel 6 Pro and 7 Pro.
As May approaches, we’re all curious about Google’s first tablet iteration. The latest rumors have revealed a little more about what we can expect from the device’s dock. The expected motivation behind the Pixel Tablet’s dock is that the device could replace current hubs like the Nest Hub Max. That’s it. Digging into the code, I found a “hub mode” notification that appears whenever the tablet is docked.
Google I/O 2023 kicks off on May 10, and with the company’s tablet showing up at the FCC, we’re excited about the possibility of a full debut at the event.
