Development of a new generation glass hole
The Apple Vision Pro and the so-called spatial computing revolution are definitely here, with a $3,500 AR goggles dev kit. Cupertino today released the Xcode 15 beta 2 SDK to registered developers. However, unlike previous AR/VR glasses, there is no opportunity to try the device, only the software. Just because you don’t have hardware to test with doesn’t mean you can’t learn anything from this release. The software should reveal many of the Apple Vision Pro’s capabilities.
The AR goggles run on something called visionOS, which is said to be completely different from previous Apple OSes. Apple hopes that the long lead time between the provision of the SDK and the actual release of the AR ski goggles will give developers a chance to design proper software to run on the Vision Pro. To help with this, Apple will show software developers what the glasses can do, possibly working with other developers to ensure the right software ecosystem exists at launch. We plan to set up a number of laboratories for
The Register was also told that tools for porting Unity games and apps to visionOS are coming soon, but it’s pretty unclear who spatially wants to pour over $3500 into the game. .
