Don’t bother asking how much it costs outside the US
If you live in the US and have access to a microcenter, you could be one of the lucky ones to grab a Ryzen 5600X3D for ~$230. This AM4 chip has 6 cores and 12 threads, runs at a base clock of 3.3 GHz and boosts to 4.4 GHz with 96 MB L3 cache and 105 W TDP. Clocks are a bit lower than the out-of-the-box Ryzen 5 5600X, but the chip lacks 3D V-Cache, which is what makes the X 3D lineup so popular.
This is an interesting chip if you can get your hands on it. Tasks that don’t take advantage of the extra special L3 cache will run slower than the $150 Ryzen 5 5600X due to the lower frequency. On the other hand, if your application uses 3D V-Cache, it should run significantly faster thanks to the additional 64MB of L3. Perhaps this will be the last hurray for the AM4 chip. If you already have a compatible motherboard and haven’t upgraded your CPU in a few generations, he might be worth a trip to Microcenter on July 7th if you’re in the US.
