night screening Host Stephen Colbert has blamed Meta for allowing Facebook and Instagram to reopen two years after Donald Trump was banned for inciting riots. It seems to think that the risks it poses to public safety have “regressed well enough.”
“With him gone, the risk has receded!” Colbert objected. “‘Jack the Ripper is a pretty cool guy between stabbing knives. Give him back the knife.'”
To make matters worse, Meta also said it would not be fact-checking because Trump is running for president. If you don’t care about his Truth Socials post, this doesn’t end well. It said it would temporarily suspend the account for one policy violation.
“Former presidents must follow Meta’s latest community guidelines prohibiting violence and incitement, fraud and deceit, and hate speech,” Colbert said.
