In 1995 Terminal Reality released a flight simulation with simplified controls close to FPS. You’ve destroyed enemy facilities and ships, dived through tunnels into each planet’s core, and tried not to be completely confused when flipped upside down. He is one of the only shareware games that had a full version.
Terminal Velocity is about to return with a “Boosted Edition” remastered by the same studio, which includes “smoother gameplay, upscaled graphics, faster framerates, improved sounds, and achievements.” We promise to
PC Gamer’s Scott Wolf gave the original version a score of 86 in his review, stating: A coaster ride with full 360 degree freedom of movement, stunning graphics, digital sound and the spirit of the Doom Clone slaughter. It should satisfy people who don’t (or who love both).
Terminal Veloicty was the first game from Texan studio Terminal Reality, and was soon followed by two combat-focused flight simulations: Fury3 and Hellbender. They also developed the Bloodrayne series and Ghostbusters: The Video Game, and recently returned to the well with remastering of the first two of his Bloodrayne games in Terminal Cut editions. Like the Terminal Velocity updates, they were light touch remasters that retained the original look (dirty textures, etc.).
The re-release is being put out by Ziggurat Interactive, who seem to specialize in reviving games that only a few of us remember. He’s responsible for some of the many forgotten 90’s shooters coming to Steam. “Terminal Velocity was one of his most exciting and innovative shooters of the 1990s, and being able to bring it back for modern audiences is a dream come true,” said Ziggurat. Kate is vice president, he said Woods. “The team has worked hard to update the game and deliver the definitive Terminal Velocity experience, and we’re excited to share this soon.”
Terminal Velocity: Boosted Edition is now available on Steam (opens in new tab) From March 14th.
