Which can zoom better, Samsung or Google?
That question will surely be answered in the coming weeks following the launch of the South Korean tech giant’s latest premium flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Its big claim to fame is its powerful new camera system.
But is it better than best in class google pixel 7 pro? Let’s see the numbers.
Samsung’s main selling point this year is the brand new 200MP main sensor. Yes, 200 megapixels. That’s a pretty big and impressive number, coupled with a pair of 12MP ultra-wide and 10MP zoom lenses. Samsung promises this new camera array will be able to produce unrivaled zoomed-in photos with a “space zoom” feature that allows up to 100x zoom.

However, it will be difficult to overtake the Pixel 7 Pro. The 50MP main sensor isn’t as big as Samsung’s, but it does have a 48MP telephoto lens that can zoom up to 30x. Again, the numbers aren’t huge, but the results speak for themselves: The Pixel 7 Pro can take some of the most impressive zoomed photos of any smartphone, so Samsung has to live up to it.
Oh, and in case you’re wondering, both phones feature a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens.

People in the tech world have to do a lot of photo tests to know which phone camera is really the right one Better Not just a spec sheet, but in reality. Both Samsung and Google employ a ton of software processing to make their photos look great, and there is no feature parity between them. For example, Google has the Magic Eraser tool and Samsung has the 100x Space Zoom.
But at least Samsung has the most megapixels. Maybe it will count for something.
