Sony’s Xperia 1 V may or may not be officially announced at MWC in Barcelona later this month. While we wait to see if that actually happens, let’s enjoy the first leaked images purported to show the next flagship smartphone.
Comparing this camera island to the Xperia 1 IV, we can immediately see that the ToF camera and RGB IR sensor are gone. This leaves us with three large sensors (which appear larger than the 1 IV), the bottom of which houses the periscope camera. Whereas the LED flash was on and off the island on last year’s phone, it’s moved to the island on the next model.

On the right side of the camera island is the NFC logo. This means that this leaked unit is the international version of his Xperia 1 V. If this was for the Japanese domestic market, it would have displayed the Felica logo instead. .
According to a Chinese leaker on Weibo, the Xperia 1 V will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which is no surprise. It is also the thinnest smartphone to use its SoC and could be the hottest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 device. literally. Of course, Sony is expected to have some sort of cooling solution that will hopefully reduce the thinness, but we don’t know that yet.
