Just days after Samsung launched its Galaxy S23 series of flagship smartphones, China’s Vivo spoils the party. On Friday, the company launched the Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro. This is a pair of powerful phones with a long and interesting list of features.
The X90 Pro is the more powerful of the two, with a 6.78-inch curved display (yes, despite Samsung’s move to flatter pastures, the Vivo still shows curved displays), a 120Hz refresh rate, and MediaTek It features a Dimensity 9200/Vivo V2 chip. Combo, up to 12 GB RAM, and 256 GB storage.

The phone has a massive 4,870 battery with 120W wired charging and 50W charging. Most likely you’ll be charging in the Vivo’s “balanced” charging mode, which is pretty fast and can charge the phone from 1 percent to 100 percent in 29 minutes. But if you need more speed, you can switch to fast charging, which can charge your X90 Pro from 1% to 50% in just 8 minutes and 10 seconds.
The X90 Pro has an interesting camera setup that sits on the huge circular camera bump on the back of the phone. The main photographer is his 50 megapixel ZEISS camera, which is a combination of a 50 megapixel portrait camera and a 12 megapixel wide camera. Note that instead of using massive optical zoom like Samsung, the Vivo focuses on portraits. The main camera should also be pretty good as it uses Sony’s 1 inch IMX989 sensor which is the largest sensor in the mobile phone industry so far (this is Xiaomi’s 13 launched in December 2022 On the front is a 32-megapixel front-facing camera hidden in a centrally-located punch-hole cutout.
Other notable specs are IP68 dust and water resistance, dual stereo speakers, and a 24-layer liquid cooling system. This is the largest ‘X Pro’ phone Vivo has ever used. The phone also has a black vegan leather back, which should help it stand out from the sea of glass-backed devices.
Vivo X90 will only be sold in Asia.

The X90 is exactly the same size and shares most specs with the X90 Pro, including the display, processor and fast-charging battery (although it lacks wireless charging). The main difference is that the 50-megapixel unit has been replaced by a 12-megapixel portrait camera, and the camera is slightly less powerful, as well as its design. The Vivo X90 has a glass back and comes in Breeze Blue and Asteroid Black colors.
Both phones run on Vivo’s Funtouch OS 13 based on Android 13.
The Vivo X90 Pro will be sold in Asia and Europe, while the X90 will only be sold in the Asian market.
