This week put an end to the nearly weekly string of Galaxy S23 series leaks since they were partially or wholly dominated last summer. That also meant the Galaxy S23 series offered few surprises, which takes some of the fun out of it.
I got the new Galaxy S23 Ultra in time and was able to do a quick camera shootout with its predecessor the Galaxy S22 Ultra. We compared 10x zoom cameras. The Galaxy S23 Ultra’s new main camera captures sharp images with a very high level of detail. Some might say the image is a little too sharp, but the benefit of detail is undeniable, even in low light.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra has been pre-ordered worldwide this week starting at €1,400 in Europe, $1,200 in the US and Rs 115,000 in India. Shipping dates vary by country, but the earliest arrival will be after Monday.
Sales of the Galaxy S23 and S23+ will begin in the coming weeks. The S23 (8/128GB) is $800/€950/£80,000 and the S23+ (8/256GB) is $1,000/€1,210.
First time seeing the Sony Xperia 1 V. It looks similar, but noticeably lacks a ToF camera and an RGB IR sensor. The Xperia 1 V is expected to be the thinnest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 device, possibly when it goes official at Mobile World Congress later this month.
