Android tablets are on the cusp of a resurgence, and one of Android’s biggest manufacturers (we’re talking OnePlus parent company BBK) is bringing Android tablets to the US for the first time. Introducing OnePlus Pad, his 11.61-inch tablet with optional keyboard and stylus. I don’t know how much it will cost, so please don’t ask. There’s also no hard release date, but pre-orders will begin in April.
What we do know is the spec. The 11.61-inch display is a 144 Hz LCD with a resolution of 2800×2000. It has a 7:5 aspect ratio, which is a bit wider than a 4:3 display, and what OnePlus claims is a “book-like” aspect ratio. The SoC is a MediaTek Dimensity 9000. This is rare in the US, but it’s basically a general-purpose ARM design for 2022 flagship phones with one 3.05 GHz ARM Cortex X2 CPU, three A710 CPUs and four A510 CPUs. 4 nm chip with ARM Mali-G710 MC10. You also get 8 GB of RAM (12 GB option available), 128 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and a 9510 mAh battery. This isn’t super flagship tablet territory and should (hopefully) come with an affordable price tag.
As usual, OnePlus’ trademark fast charging is here, and it’s 67W. With a small phone battery, this kind of charging typically charges a phone from 0-100 in about 30 minutes, while with a large tablet battery a full charge still takes “just over 60 minutes”. In the fine print, OnePlus actually warns against repair attempts, saying, “The battery is specifically encrypted for your safety. To get your battery repaired or get a genuine replacement battery, contact the official Please visit the OnePlus service center on .” I’ve never heard of the battery being ‘encrypted’, but there is a serial number check somewhere in the firmware that will probably refuse to work if replaced. I think it means As for the possibility that an “Official OnePlus Service Center” actually exists, there’s a business finder on the OnePlus India website, but it doesn’t exist in the US, so it appears to be a mail-in service only.
The tablet is an aluminum unibody weighing 555g. The rounded sides make it easy to hold. It comes with four speakers, a USB-C port on the right side, and his set of three pogo pins for the keyboard on the bottom. On the back, there’s a circular camera bump that looks like the OnePlus 11’s cousin, with a single 13 MP camera. I hope you like green too, because green seems to be the only color.
No fingerprint sensor at all. There’s a cutout that looks like a fingerprint sensor, but we’re guessing it’s just a radio signal window. There’s also no GPS mentioned in the spec sheet. I know very little about the “OnePlus Magnetic Keyboard” and the “OnePlus Stylo” pen. The keyboard has a small trackpad that supports swipes. The pen has a 2ms response time and sounds pretty good. that’s about it. We’ll probably know more in April.
