What you need to know
- Google is rolling out the latest Android 13 beta release with minor updates.
- Android 13 QPR2 Beta 3.1 includes some bug fixes and comes with the February 2023 security patch.
- This update is available for Pixel 4a and newer and will be delivered approximately one month before the feature removal in March 2023.
- Google also released the first developer preview of Android 14.
Android 14 developer preview is starting, but Google still has Android 13 beta. Google is preparing a new QPR2 beta 3.1 build as the next feature addition will come in his March. This is currently available for his Pixel smartphone on target.
According to the release notes, betas are fairly lightweight, typically for x.1 builds. However, the February 2023 security patch will keep your Pixel phone up to date.
In addition to new security levels, Android 13 QPR2 Beta 3.1 (T2B3.230109.004) contains some bug fixes for Bluetooth and system conversion.
- Fixed an issue with the system Bluetooth module that allowed out-of-range writes due to memory corruption. (Issue #259630761)
- Fixed an issue where some Romanian translations were missing from system images.
The update is already showing up on Pixel 6 Pros and should reach everyone enrolled in the Android 13 beta program. As suggested, the update is very minor, on our device he is only 21.80MB. If you don’t want to wait for an OTA to show up on your Pixel, try flashing a factory image onto your phone.
Eligible Pixel phones range from the Pixel 4a to the new Pixel 7 Pro.
With just a few weeks left before the March feature drop is expected to affect Pixel phones, more beta releases are likely now.

The Pixel 6a delivers flagship performance at about half the price of most flagship smartphones, making it the most cost-effective product. It also captures excellent images, has great battery life, and comes in a rather striking Sage colorway.
