Germany’s Kuckoo Camper shook up the small camper trailer market in Europe two years ago with the introduction of the Bruno squaredrop, an innovative allloader with rooftop deck and indoor/outdoor kitchen. Now, shedding some of the Bruno’s size and sturdiness, it’s back with a second model in favor of a lighter, crisper build that ties inextricably with nature. It benefits from innovation and lives bigger than its small size thanks to a panoramic interior driven by oversized glass doors and windows.
Kuckoo showcased an Emma prototype at the CMT show in Stuttgart last month. The trailer, conceived as Bruno’s little sister, is still in development, so few details remain unconfirmed. may not have many details.
Emma has a slightly different shape than the big and sturdy Bruno, being 3 feet (90 cm) shorter in size and a very compact 11.4 feet (3.5 m). With a base weight of less than 882 lbs (400 kg), it is extremely lightweight and ready to hook up to a wide variety of towing vehicles.

What really sets the Emma apart and gives it a distinct personality unlike any other trailer we’ve seen is its glass door design. We are asking campers to equip it and have the option for the same setup on the driver’s side. With the doors open, the trailer feels more spacious and airy, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. Keep the view from the inside intact even after closing.
A large glass entryway works with the large rear window and overhead skylights for even more viewing opportunities. This generous allocation of glass makes Emma one of the most striking panoramic designs on the world’s RV market, making her aptly named Lagom pickup last year and her motorhome for 2021. Comparable to the Kip Panorama Shelter trailer.

Emma’s light wood interior panels complement the glass to create a bright living space. Kuckoo keeps the layout fairly simple with folding mattresses on both the 58 x 79 inch (147 x 200 cm) almost queen double bed and sofa. The front cabinets have shelves and ample storage space, with additional storage surrounding the overhead space near the ceiling.
At the rear of the interior is a large shelf with a removable top that provides access to the kitchen slide below. It has a 37 inch (95 cm) long slide for At the front, another slide-out creates a worktop for preparation and storage.

Emma has swapped out the all-terrain tires included in the Bruno for smaller, smoother rubbers that are more comfortable on pavement and, in some cases, smoother than pristine camping on full land or gritty off-road. Appears to be suitable for flat dirt roads. Unlike the Bruno, there is no roof rack, and the aluminum roof is unlikely to be used as a deck. However, the cabin itself offers almost as much scenic and fresh air design as the actual deck, so you don’t really need a separate deck space.
Emma’s preliminary spec also includes Dometic vents and optional electrical hardware. Equipment is sparse, but the open design saves weight (and possibly price) and encourages campers to bring their own gear.

Kuckoo will continue to develop and test Emma this year, and plans to start taking orders in early 2024. Pricing hasn’t been listed yet, but for reference, the large Bruno trailer starts at her €17,490 (around US$18,675).
