The “Honda” name doesn’t often get stamped on the front of a camper, but when it does, it’s usually something pretty special, like the fast-converting Odyssey camper minivan or the adorable micro pickup that matches the trailer. Deck 1 of the Japanese White House Camper is the latest proof of this unwritten rule. Based on the Stepwagon minivan, the Pop-Up Deck One Camper offers four bunks, seats up to eight, an interior dining area and his one of the most adorable tailgate kitchens you’ll ever see.
Honda stylized the name of the minivan in question as “Step Wagon,” but for the sake of us and your eyes we’ll stick with “Step Wagon.” Before unveiling the new camper at the Japan Camper Show, we reworked the Deck One Camper Van package around the new van.

The new Step Wagon looks more like a camper than the curvy Odyssey minivan we’re familiar with in the US, but it’s actually 189 to 190 inches (480 cm to 483 cm) and 1 foot (30 cm) depending on the trim. is also much shorter. This is big compared to his sub-4m light van micro his campers like his N-Van solo camper at the White House, but smaller American and European smaller ones like Cascade Campers’ Ram Promaster City conversion Comparable to van mini campers.
The Stepwagon’s horizontal roofline is 4 inches (10 cm) higher than the Odyssey’s 72.4 inches (184 cm). The White House added overhead with a gas strut-assisted pop-up sleeper roof with an available double bed. The company has kept the third row of seats intact, albeit with his shortened third row next to the tailgate kitchen on the driver’s side. Folding both rows flat creates a second double bed. This causes the width of the interior to stretch toward the front and center of the van and taper off around the kitchen block at the rear.

The kitchen block itself is the cutest indoor/outdoor slide-out tailgate unit we’ve seen since the 2020 Daon Ravy Kia micro camper. The sink is attached to the top of the block and remains inside the vehicle, below is a 10L water tank. The bottom slide out contains a worktop used to hold a portable stove. In this case, it’s Snow Peak’s single burner. A microwave is available on top of the shelving unit next to the sink console. The White House also shows an option for a small 18L refrigerator box.
Deck One’s kitchen might be more appealing for well-prepared stock photos than for actual food preparation, but I appreciate the efficient use of space.

While the center of Deck 1 is smaller than a typical camper van, the White House adds a removable dining table and swivel cab seats to create a functional dining area. Other Deck One equipment includes a standing heater for camping use and a leisure battery of 42 or 100 Ah depending on trim.
One of the main advantages of building a camper with the latest generation of a particular vehicle is that it is loaded with the latest technology and features from the automaker. The Base Deck One camper van is equipped with a 1.5-liter VTEC gas turbo engine, and Honda’s two-motor e:HEV hybrid powertrain boosts efficiency to an impressive WLTP fuel economy of 20 km/L (43 mpg). I can. The latest driver assistance features are included via the Honda Sensing Suite.
