Motorola’s Edge 40 Pro is rumored to hit the western market at some point in the near future as a rebranded version of the Moto X40 that launched in China in December.
A prototype of the Motorola Edge 40 Pro appeared to be running Geekbench today. This means that it has been entered into the benchmarking online hall of fame, or more precisely, its database.
The Edge 40 Pro managed a single-core score of 1,480 and a multi-core score of 4,889 on Geekbench 5. The ‘rtwo’ motherboard could apparently be ‘tied’ to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. This will actually be a rebranded Moto X40.
The prototype had 12GB of RAM when I ran the benchmarks (never mind the 11GB in the list – Geekbench always underestimates memory slightly). And guess what? The Moto X40 also has a variant with exactly 12GB of RAM. match? Probably not. However, keep in mind that the X40 boots with 8GB of RAM, so the Edge 40 Pro might as well.
As usual, the only other detail the benchmark list gives us is the software the phone was running.In this case it was Android 13, which (hopefully) surprises no one.
If the Edge 40 Pro turns out to be identical to the X40, we’d expect it to come with a 6.7-inch 1080×2400 165 Hz OLED screen, the aforementioned Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, up to 512 GB of storage, and a triple rear camera system. (50 MP main with OIS, 50 MP ultra-wide with autofocus for macro shots, and 12 MP 2x optical zoom), 60 MP selfie snapper, and 125W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging 4,600 mAh battery.
