Artificial intelligence controlled a US F-16 fighter jet in a dogfight with other aircraft in a test.

The series of AI-powered flights took place in December 2022, but was revealed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the research and development arm of the US Department of Defense.

DARPA previously tested AI controls for jets in simulators as part of its Air Combat Evolution program. The research is currently in progress.
