It’s been over a year since the launch of the Galaxy S21 FE, and its successor is nowhere to be found. It suggests that the company is preparing to launch the Galaxy S23 FE later this year.
This is from a South Korean news publication (via Android Police) and indicates that the device could launch around August or September. This gives it the launch window previously held by the Note 20 series and resembles the well-received Galaxy S20 FE.
According to the outlet, the absence of the Galaxy S22 FE could be due to semiconductor shortages that continue to affect the industry. There is a possibility. However, that may not have deterred Samsung from considering launching a Fan Edition successor.
According to the publication, Samsung may hold off on launching the Galaxy A74 this year. The phone sits at the top of the mid-range smartphone lineup and will be the follow-up to the Galaxy A73, which was only made available in select markets. It’s an attempt to avoid preying on sales of other devices like the 120Hz display, 50MP triple camera setup, and massive 5,000mAh battery.
Apparently, the A73 is not selling well and Samsung may be deciding what to do with the series A7x lineup. However, this could help the S23 FE launch if Samsung doesn’t have to devote resources to another phone that it thinks will be closer in both specs and price. If so, it’s unclear if it will limit availability or expand to more regions beyond the Galaxy S21 FE.
Galaxy S23 FE could work if the timing (and price) is right
The launch of the Galaxy S23 series is still in its infancy, but talk about Fan Edition phones is cautious. Given that the lunar period is the time to expect the successor to Samsung’s foldable phone, this could offer consumers a cheaper option for the second half of the year.
Samsung wants foldables to become more mainstream, but many users are still not very convinced about the form factor. And with the Note series no more, the Galaxy S23 FE has more room to breathe. .
