Motorola has announced an effort to easily bring satellite communications to smartphones.
According to a Bullitt Group press release, both the rugged device maker and the Lenovo-owned company have partnered to create the Motorola Defy Satellite Link Bluetooth accessory. This dongle provides satellite connectivity to any Android or iOS device and solves the problem of not being able to connect to your phone in various situations. Motorola’s satellite-connected Bluetooth dongle works with a new chip that MediaTek is currently producing for additional support.
Motorola Defy Satellite Link, showcased at MWC 2023 in Barcelona, is small and light, but offers a full range of features, including two-way satellite communication, location sharing, and SOS assistance. This satellite hotspot is designed to make it easy and worry-free when trying to reach someone when a common network is unavailable.

This accessory also utilizes the Brit Satellite Messenger. As long as the sky is clearly visible, users are connected to geostationary satellites for affordable, continuous international coverage. The Bullite satellite messenger app allows users to text her messages to another person. If there is no corresponding app, the recipient will receive her SMS messages instead.
Recipients are not billed for messages, but senders are billed as part of their subscription plan. SOS Assist is also included in satellite messaging plans, giving emergency responders her 24/7 access starting at $4.99 a month.
Motorola Defy Satellite Link has an IP68 waterproof and dustproof rating and a 600mAh battery. This accessory will be available for purchase starting April 2023 for $99. You can sign up now for pre-order details.

Equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, Defy2 provides power for up to 2 days with 15W fast charging. On the back of Defy2 is a triple camera array with a 50MP main shooter, an 8MP ultra wide angle lens and a 2MP macro lens.
