This week is Mobile World Congress. This means stepping into the wild world of concept phones. Usually these are flexible display devices that never see the light of day, but this year OnePlus has a “OnePlus 11 Concept” phone. It has a liquid cooling system called “Active CryoFlux”. We’ll try to decipher this, but our first red flag is that OnePlus didn’t go into too much detail.
It’s worth noting that OnePlus has made several concept phones, but they’ve never really made an impact on the company’s consumer products. are positioned so that they are not visible when not in use. Another phone changes color. Neither feature made it into a consumer cell phone.
According to a OnePlus press release, the system “has a piezoceramic micropump at its core, connected to a pipeline sandwiched between upper and lower diaphragms. The micropump occupies an area of less than 0.2 cm². , allowing the coolant to circulate around the pipeline without significantly increasing the weight and thickness of the OnePlus 11 Concept.”

The blue liquid is supposed to get into and around the ridges of the camera, but it’s not necessarily cooling anything.

Here is a picture of OnePlus for the “micropump”. I think it’s connected to the blue plumbing, but I can’t tell from the OnePlus photo.
The flashy blue light on the back looks like a cooling system, and it’s not just for looks. The press release reads, “The transparent back provides a captivating view of his Active CryoFlux pipeline at work,” which also happens to be lit up. OnePlus also states that “active his CryoFlux liquid flows around the camera like a halo,” so according to OnePlus, anything blue is coolant.
Here’s what OnePlus has to say about the actual results of this system:1.6℃ while charging, 30-45 shaves [seconds] These numbers aren’t particularly impressive.The phone throttles pretty quickly due to heat, and most of the time it deals with “cooling” by slowing down.OnePlus’ press release quotes the frame rate as ” Measured in degrees” independently — I’m pretty sure they mean “frames” — and 3-4 frames is often within the margin of error of benchmarks. We usually deal with passive cooling solutions by slowing them down so they don’t overheat.
it seems there is no liquid go This explains why OnePlus’ cooling results are so poor. Water cooling a PC is done by attaching a water block to something hot like a CPU or GPU, heating that liquid, then moving it to where it cools (usually a radiator with some fans behind it). works. Is that actual cooling loop recreated here? The phone has no discernible method of cooling hot liquids other than passive cooling. There are no fans, no radiators or other cooling devices like you find in some phones.
Small amounts of the same temperature liquid seem to be bouncing around all over the place, and OnePlus hopes it will dissipate heat as it moves across the back of the phone. It probably doesn’t help that it’s sandwiched inside the phone by a glass panel that is. OnePlus also doesn’t explicitly say that the liquid cooling is connected in any meaningful way to the SoC via a water block. It is unknown which parts are cooled.

“Glass unibody” is probably not correct. You can see the pictures there, but this is pretty much the back of a normal glass phone.

Finally, some marketers have decided to describe the phone’s design with “Glass Unibody,” which sounds like an absolute nightmare concept for phone durability. , there seems to be nothing but marketing.There is still a metal frame around the phone and pictures of OnePlus’ ‘unibody’ appear to be a regular back glass panel. It’s about assembling the back and frame in one piece and attaching the individual electronics to that piece inside the phone. Thankfully, OnePlus didn’t use very skilled blown glass or anything like that. Also, there doesn’t seem to be much more glass here than in his regular OnePlus 11.
