Nine white apartments stand out like spaceships among the dilapidated brick facades of the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. The 100-year-old building was recently upgraded with an energy-efficient exoskeleton in an effort to cut the building’s energy consumption in half while minimizing the impact on tenants. This could serve as a model for the millions of building retrofits needed to meet climate goals.
