Link-in-bio platform Koji launches new tool to let creators sell e-books

Koji, a link-in-bio platform that provides digital storefronts for creators on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, has launched a new e-book tool that allows users to sell e-books and audiobooks, the company said yesterday. Announced.

This new tool is essentially a template creators can use to sell their e-books and audiobooks from social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Youtube, Twitch, etc.) and other places on the web. Koji also allows creators to create custom her addons and shareable previews.

Note that Koji receives a 10% commission for every e-book or audiobook purchase a customer makes.

Customers can download their purchases and view them in Koji’s native reader and audio player. You can also download and open the file in your favorite e-reader, such as the Kindle app, or open the file as an EPUB, PDF, or chaptered audio file.

Koji launched another e-book template last year, one of its most popular Koji templates, said Paul Bakaus, Koji’s head of creators. However, that template will be replaced with this new e-book template. This gives users access to all-new features, such as the ability to add reviews, and allows buyers to offer free previews of chapters before being asked to pay and unlock the full version. Bakaus also said there will be an option to sell bundled e-books and audio.

The new e-book tool is likely to hit many users and their followers, especially the creators of the subculture within TikTok, “BookTok,” who will recommend books to their audience. As of this writing, he has over 113 billion views on his BookTok hashtag on TikTok.

In general, e-book reading has increased in popularity since the start of the pandemic, with 30% of Americans choosing e-books over paper books by 2021, according to a Pew Research Center study.

Koji was founded by Dmitry Shapiro, who previously worked at Google and MySpace Music, and Sean Thielen, a self-taught coder. The link-in-bio platform will launch in March 2021 and currently serves more than 500,000 creators, the company told TechCrunch. Prominent creators and celebrities include Emily Dobson and Alice Cooper, as well as somewhat ‘smaller’ influencers such as Brown Girls Who Write, Lauren Giesting and Tasting Thyme.

Koji is free for everyone to use and can be accessed by anyone, regardless of number of followers.

Koji is like many other link-in-bio tools that allow creators to link their social media accounts, merch shops, and other projects with one custom URL. However, the company also develops various products that it previously called “mini-apps.” Koji, now called ‘Templates’, has optional add-on tools, each with separate functionality but all designed for additional monetization. The company receives commissions ranging from 5% to 15% on most products.

For example, the company recently launched an “Exclusive Articles” app that allows creators to lock written content such as articles, blog posts, and recipes behind a paywall. A major player in the Link-in-Bio world, his Linktree recently tested a paywall feature, “Payment Lock,” so users can create payment links in their content.

In 2022 alone, Koji launched over 100 templates, including the “Shopify Storefront” app, “Video Shopping,” “Watch Party,” “Listening Party,” and “Tip Jar.” All in all, Koji gives access to over 200 of these templates, so creators can sell everything from exclusive images to custom his shoutouts and more.

Beyond templates, Koji also gives users access to analytics via the merchant dashboard. There, users can not only see their earnings, but also gain insights about their customers, such as where they come from, what they buy, and their top customers. .

Other features that Koji offers are video and GIF backgrounds and ‘highlights’ that allow users to move the most important links and apps to the top of the link-in bio page.
