7 hours and 55 minutes of Pascal’s atmospheric velvety voice flowed in a scary story mode, ghost radio is just that story. The radio call-in show is hosted by hilarious presenter Joaquin, and the caller offers a supernatural experience. When he’s not suppressing the tragic events of his past, Joaquin co-hosts the show from a dimly lit station and hosts it alongside his girlfriend Alondra, who knows a lot about folklore. Joined by Watts, his engineer, the three run a show for insomniac and creepy listeners. But when the show hits the mainstream, Joaquin becomes more and more drawn into the nightmarish tales people call him, and weird things start happening.

Pascal’s audio performance is predictably excellent, bringing the horrors of radio broadcasts to life. Playing audiobooks, especially fiction, and engaging listeners without cringing me personally is no easy feat. But Pascal is a pro, delving into Joaquín’s past and the tragedy in it, while pitching every character and dialogue scene in Gout’s slow-paced tale that leaps from past to present. Gout spends plenty of time discussing different types of music through Joaquin’s best friend, Gabriel.

Gout received decent praise for the book. Crime writer James Patterson blurb(opens in new tab) who said, “ghost radio It reminded me of the early days of Stephen King…the story sticks with me long after I’ve read the last page.”
