UPDATE: March 3, 2023 8:00 EST ROLAND UDVARLAKI
Updated this post with new information. It includes an update on availability and a possible announcement date for the Galaxy A54.
Samsung announced the Galaxy S23 series in early February. They’re one of the best smartphones money can buy right now. They’re lightweight, compact, and come with the latest and greatest specs and years of updates. Not surprisingly, the company is currently looking to upgrade its most popular mid-ranger, the Galaxy A54. Here’s all the news and updates on the upcoming budget flagships.
Samsung has been consistent over the years, and the Galaxy A52 and A53 have been pretty straightforward when recommending the best devices under $500. Always have a long-lasting battery. Samsung has also become one of the best OEMs providing timely updates for premium and budget products, and one of the best manufacturers on the market. The new Galaxy A54 offers the same level of upgrades as its successor and will reportedly be one of the most attractive offerings in 2023. That’s all we know so far about the Samsung Galaxy A54.
price and availability
Samsung’s mid-range devices are often announced in the first half of each year, usually in the spring. The Samsung Galaxy A52 was announced on March 17, 2021 and the Galaxy A53 was announced on March 17, 2022. The Galaxy S23 series will reportedly launch slightly earlier in 2023.
According to a new tweet from the trusty Leakster, ONLEAKS, Samsung could announce the Galaxy A54 and A34 on March 15th. The news comes from one of OnLeaks’ trusted sources, who claims he can see the new Midranger announced in mid-March. The dates are in line with our expectations and historical data, and if that’s true, we can always see invitations and official announcements.
As for pricing, the Galaxy A52 5G retails for $499, while the new Galaxy A53 5G retails for $449. So far, there haven’t been many leaks about pricing, but we expect the Galaxy A54 to cost about the same.
Samsung Galaxy A53
The Samsung Galaxy A53 packs a 6.5 inch Super AMOLED display, an Exynos 1280 and a 5000 mAh battery and a decent set of camera sensors. At $350, it offers the perfect combination of price and specs.
colour
The current Galaxy A53 5G launched in the US in a single black color. However, the device is available in black, blue, white and peach colors in other regions. It’s unclear at this time if the US market will introduce new colors, but we expect Samsung to be able to offer more customization options. In some cases, new colors were announced to make it possible.

design
The design of the new Galaxy A54 is rumored to be very similar to the Galaxy A53. The latest leak didn’t mention the material of the device, but we’ll assume it’s the same plastic as last year’s model. It is rumored that The leaked dimensions are 158.3 x 76.7 x 8.2 mm (via 91 Mobil).
On the back, the large camera island housing the sensor is rumored to be gone to follow the design language of the new Galaxy S23 series. Each camera sensor has its own island, and the back of the device is significantly streamlined for an even more minimalistic approach. It has an IP67 waterproof and dustproof certificate, and the same placement of ports, microphones, and buttons on the side. Expectations continue.
screen
Same leak from 91 mobile It says it expects a slightly smaller 6.4-inch OLED display compared to the A53’s 6.5-inch panel. The screen has an FHD+ (2,400 x 1,080) resolution panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Expect the same accurate colors and excellent brightness levels inside and out, even though the display has shrunk slightly.
Previous Galaxy A-series devices have had great displays that are excellent for everyday use, entertainment, and gaming, so I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. It has a cutout.
Processor, RAM, and Storage
The Galaxy A53 featured an Exynos 1280 with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The device performed well and was efficient, but in some departments the Exynos wasn’t as strong as its competitor’s mid-range chips. The upcoming Galaxy A54 is rumored to feature the Exynos 1380 chipset, which should be much faster than the Exynos 1280.
The chip comes with a new 5G modem and supports both mmWave and sub-6GHz connectivity, which should improve wireless connectivity. The chip also supports Bluetooth 5.3. This is expected to make it much more efficient and further extend battery life.
camera
The rear of the Galaxy A52 and A53 had a primary sensor, ultrawide, macro and depth sensors. This year, the Samsung Galaxy A54 is rumored to have only three camera sensors on the back.according to galaxy clubAccording to another leak, the A54 will have a 50MP primary sensor, possibly skipping the depth sensor and seeing an ultra-wide and macro camera instead. , an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 5MP macro camera.
battery
A recent leak suggests that the Galaxy A54 could feature a larger 5,000 mAh battery, the same capacity as its predecessor. There are rumors of a device supporting 25W fast wired charging, and we expect it to go from flat to 50% in about 30 minutes.
The Galaxy A53 received a lot of praise for performing well under load and for its longevity. We hope Samsung has made more improvements this time around, and we expect similar great performance and durability in his upcoming Galaxy A54.
what we want to see
- Fast charging: It might sound like a broken record, but Samsung has lost its plans when it comes to offering faster charging. The entire Galaxy lineup supports fast wired charging up to 25W, which isn’t fast enough right now. We’d love to see Samsung improve charging speeds, and the Galaxy A54 would be a great starting point.
- Better performance: The Exynos 1380 promises plenty of advancements and upgrades when it comes to gaming and multitasking, and we expect to see even more leaps when it comes to performance. I’d like to see it handle graphics-intensive games better.
- more colors: The Galaxy A53 is only available in one black color in the US, but four color options are available in other regions. The A-series are some of the best-selling devices, and we’d love to see Samsung add even more colors.
- Telephoto camera: Having a macro camera on a smartphone in this price range doesn’t make a lot of sense and doesn’t offer much. I’m here.
