MWC 2023 is now in the history books and could be the show’s busiest in years, stretching out for several editions just before the COVID pandemic. We’ve prepared a recap of all of last week’s major announcements, as well as hands-on coverage with some of the interesting devices we’ve seen firsthand.
HMD Global
Nokia kicked things off with the announcement of the Nokia G22, Nokia C32 and Nokia C22 smartphones. The trio offers entry-level specs with large batteries and, in the case of the G22, focuses on easy serviceability. Nokia has partnered with iFixit to provide tools, spare parts and repair guides to help users extend the life of their devices.
With the right tools and guides, replacing the battery should take about 5 minutes. Nokia also announced that it will manufacture some mobile phones in Europe from the third quarter of 2023. Feel free to check out our hands-on coverage of new Nokia phones here.
Xiaomi
Xiaomi has introduced the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro to the global market and the all-new Xiaomi 13 Lite model. His Xiaomi 13 on the smaller side is 1,000 euros here in Europe. The 13 Pro can be purchased for €1,300/₹80,000, while the 13 Lite sets the purchaser at €500. All three phones will be available to the general public starting March 8th. Xiaomi also demonstrated wireless AR glasses at MWC, featuring a fully wireless design, a micro OLED screen and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 1 platform.
one plus
OnePlus showcased a cool new concept phone with liquid cooling called the OnePlus 11 Concept.Just like a true gaming PC, the device brings a closed-loop liquid cooling system OnePlus called Active CryoFlux. increase.
OnePlus claims the new cooling system can bring temperatures down by up to 2.1°C during gaming and up to 1.6°C during charging sessions.
TCL
TCL has announced a new budget phone for the US market and two new 11-inch Android tablets. The most premium new phone is the TCL 40X, which offers a Dimensity 700 chip, a 6.5-inch 90Hz LCD and a 50MP main cam for $200. The TCL 40 XE is the cheapest 5G phone in the manufacturer’s portfolio at just $170, while the TCL 40 XL offers a Helio G37 and a 50MP main cam for $150. TCL also announced the $120 TCL 406. It’s an Android 13 device with a 6.6-inch HD+ display and a 5,000 mAh battery.

Honor announced the €900 Magic5 and €1,200 Magic5 Pro flagships, and announced the global availability of the €1,600 Magic Vs foldable. The Magic5 series is equipped with the latest flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 54MP main camera and 120Hz LTPO OLED display. realm
The Realme GT3 was announced with a super-fast 240W fast charging and an asking price of $650. The device is a rebranding of the Realme GT Neo 5 launched in China earlier this year. The phone also packs a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, a 50MP main camera and a 4,600 mAh battery that can be recharged in just 10 minutes thanks to the included fast charger.
techno
Tecno’s ambitions are growing at an unprecedented rate, with the company unveiling its first foldable phone at MWC. The Phantom V Fold is set to debut in India soon at his incredible early bird price of INR 80,000 (under $1,000). You get a large 7.85-inch LTPO AMOLED folding screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 6.42-inch AMOLED cover display, 50MP main and telephoto cameras, and a Dimensity 9000+ chipset. I had to spend some time with the device so you can see my first impressions below.
Tecno also showed a concept phone with color-changing Chameleon Coloring Technology that allows users to change the color of the back of the phone in a matter of seconds.
ZTE
ZTE made headlines with the nubia Pad 3D, a glasses-free 3D Android tablet co-developed with Leia Inc. This slate features his 12.4-inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 2560x1600px, a refresh rate of 120Hz and a proprietary DLB layer developed by Leia’s 3D. light field mode. Convert standard 2D content to 3D in real time with onboard conversion software. And with dual front and back cameras, you can take real-world photos, videos, and scan objects in gorgeous 3D.
Oppo
Oppo focused on smart wearables at this year’s MWC conference, demonstrating Air Glass 2 assisted reality glasses, zero-power tags and a Wi-Fi 6 router. You can head over to the trio’s hands-on coverage here.
motorola
Lenovo’s MWC booth showcased Motorola’s rollable smartphone concept phone, aka the Moto Rizr. The device features a rotatable pOLED display that expands vertically from 5 inches wide and 15:9 aspect ratio to 6.5 inches vertically and 22:9 aspect ratio.

The idea behind this phone is that when you have a compact phone and need more screen real estate on the go, you can double-tap the button on the side to extend the display.
Cat
Rugged cell phone maker Cat has introduced the Cat S75 cell phone with built-in two-way satellite messaging via Bullitt Satellite Messenger Essentials. With this service, you can send messages to any phone number, even if you don’t have a cellular connection. The Cat S75 is priced at €600/£550. See hands-on coverage for more details.

The Ulefone Armor 23 is the latest in the manufacturer’s long line of rugged phones. Powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, it features 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage, 6.67 inch AMOLED screen FHD+ display and 120 Hz refresh rate.
True to its name, the Armor 23 has a 7,000 mAh battery and is MIL-STD-810H rated with IP68 certification, meaning it can withstand being dropped or submerged in water without issue.
