According to Palo Alto Networks, two-thirds (39%) of global organizations report a spike in breaches in the past year, increasing IT complexity and declining ability to detect and respond .
Security vendors surveyed more than 2,500 respondents in the United States, Australia, Germany, France, Japan, Singapore, and the United Kingdom to summarize the latest findings. The State of the Cloud Native Security Report 2023.
As businesses move more data and workloads to the cloud, we’ve found it increasingly difficult to quickly find and remediate incidents.
More than two-fifths (42%) reported an increase in mean time to remediation, and 90% said they were unable to detect, contain, and resolve cyber threats within an hour. Nearly a third (30%) reported a significant increase in intrusion attempts and unplanned downtime.
Part of the challenge appears to be the complexity of the cloud security environment, in part due to the bloat of tools.
Three-quarters (76%) say the number of cloud security tools they use creates blind spots that impact risk prioritization and threat prevention. their purpose.
A previous Palo Alto study revealed that organizations rely on over 30 security tools, including 6 to 10 cloud security products.
The report identifies key cloud security challenges:
- Manage holistic security across teams, enabling development, operations, security, and all other stakeholders to share responsibilities and “shift left”
- Build security into the entire cloud-native development lifecycle to ensure that only the right solution is used at the right stage of application development
- Training staff on the proper use of security tools across environments such as code, workloads, identity and data, PaaS, containers, and serverless
- Lack of visibility into cloud vulnerabilities that can be addressed by solutions that continuously detect misconfigurations, vulnerabilities, and threats in near-real time across the application lifecycle
- Find the right security tools for your organization’s needs.Teams need products that provide flexibility and choice for future-proof cloud security
