Apple’s announcement today about the yellow iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus contained a lot of interesting little tidbits beyond the phones themselves. We’ve already told you that Apple Pay has finally landed in South Korea, effectively ending Samsung’s near monopoly in South Korea in mobile payments.
But the news also contained another revelation. This has to do with satellites. Apple’s Emergency SOS via satellite service will expand to six more countries later this month.

Austria, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands and Portugal. With this, he doubles the number of countries with satellite-based emergency communications services in six so far: the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland and the United Kingdom. In a few weeks there will be 12 in total.
Apple wants you to remember that Emergency SOS via satellite service only works in open spaces with a clear line of sight to the sky.
